The journey of Doyle Security Ltd spans over four decades—a story rooted in resilience, innovation, and a deep commitment to protecting people and property across the UK.
Our History: From Local Roots to Regional Growth
Founded in January 1985 as Shaun Doyle Security Services, the company began in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, providing door supervision and related security services for local publicans. Shaun Doyle, a former boxer who trained at his own gym, The Junction Inn, brought together a unique team of retired boxers and former coal miners—many of whom had lost their jobs during the 1984–85 miners’ strike.
This blend of discipline, loyalty, and community spirit laid the foundation for a company built on trust, professionalism, and local pride.
Rapid Expansion and Enduring Partnerships
As demand grew, Doyle Security quickly secured contracts with major brewing companies like Whitbread and John Smiths, supporting their modernisation of pubs and venues across towns and cities around Yorkshire. At the same time, the company expanded into manned guarding services for businesses across Yorkshire.
This segment flourished, leading to long-standing partnerships with local authorities and privately owned businesses, many of which continue to this day.
A Family Business, Evolving with Each Generation
In 1996, Shaun passed the leadership to his son, Grant Doyle, who ushered in a new era of growth and innovation. Under Grant’s guidance, Doyle Security embraced cutting-edge technology while strengthening its core manned services. Over the next 29 years, the company evolved into a nationally recognised and accredited security provider.
Today, the third generation of the Doyle family is actively involved, with Grant’s daughters joining the business Millie and Henrietta continuine the proud tradition of being a family-owned and operated company.
A National Presence from a Modern Headquarters
Now operating from a state-of-the-art headquarters near Junction 37 of the M1, Doyle Security Ltd employs over 170 full-time staff. From this central location, we deliver bespoke security solutions across the UK, supported by our 24/7 Control Room and a team of dedicated professionals.
